Qualifications
Charles holds a BCom (Law), an LLB and an LLM in Banking & Stock Exchange Law (Rand Afrikaans University) and is also admitted as an Advocate.
Work Experience
Charles is a recognized expert in the field of exchange control. He has over 40 years’ experience dealing with all aspects of exchange control including 27 years in the then Exchange Control Department of the South African Reserve Bank, where he retired early as the Deputy General Manager.
He has extensive experience in submitting applications to the Financial Surveillance Department on behalf of high-net-worth clients who want to externalize additional capital for investment purposes or who want to emigrate; assisting clients to obtain the necessary permission to inward list; acting as an exchange control expert witness; as well as assisting clients to regularize their exchange control matters. He is a life member of the Institute of Bankers in South Africa and an audit committee member of the University of Johannesburg. He is also an honorary member of the Blue Bulls Rugby Union.
